How to plan a monthly social media content calendar
A useful calendar brings dates, topics, formats, materials, owners and approvals together. Start with customer questions and a production rhythm your business can sustain.

A monthly content calendar should connect dates, topics, formats, materials, owners and approval status. Daily posting is not automatically necessary. Begin with customers' information needs and a production routine the business can maintain.
Collect recurring customer questions
Sales conversations, calls and messages provide useful topics. How is the product used? What problem does the service solve? What changes the price? Does the customer need to prepare anything? Turn each question into a clear content idea.
Maintain a shared list and identify who can verify each answer. This reduces the pressure to invent an entirely new set of topics every month.
Organise content by purpose
- Product or service explanations.
- Genuine work examples and process stories.
- Practical advice and frequently asked questions.
- Current announcements, offers or new products.
The mix need not follow a rigid percentage. A launch period may require more product explanations. Constant sales messages can weaken communication, but content that never identifies a next step can also leave interested people stranded.
Use a simple planning table
Include date, channel, objective, topic, format, image source, copy, approver and status. Distinguish ready, awaiting approval and published. Completed design is not automatically approved content.
Group material requiring photography in advance. Scheduling a shoot before products are ready or requesting approvals at the last minute causes avoidable delays. Leave space for unexpected developments.
Review the month before planning the next
Which questions produced useful conversations? Which posts directed people to products? Which formats consumed disproportionate production time? Use these observations without turning one month's results into universal rules.

- List existing content, images, account access and technical resources.
- Define deliverables, the approval contact and the target date.
- Record your starting point: visits, enquiries and qualified prospects.
Check before accepting a proposal
- Are included and excluded tasks stated separately?
- Are revisions, delivery format, usage rights and maintenance responsibilities clear?
- Which evidence will you review, and when?
